TRAILS
THE GORGE TRAIL (CANYONS)
With the Erremendía mountain range to the north and the Pyrenees in Huesca rising to the north-east, the beautiful Urraul valley is scattered with tiny villages. There are many megalithic remains close to the Ugarron gorge and Napal, showing us that this area has been inhabited by humans for thousands of years.
USÚN ~ LEYRE ~ USÚN
EThis trail links two iconic monasteries in Navarre. The Ausun monastery has almost been forgotten over time, but is significant for housing the oldest written document preserved in Navarre. The other monastery has been restored and is home to Benedictine monks and a hostel that is open to the public.
USUN ~ SOS DEL REY CATÓLICO
This ride crosses beautiful landscapes along the banks of the Salazar, Irati, Aragón and Onsella rivers, taking in several wooded areas and a variety of fauna. We will also see the striking imprint of human use as we are reminded of the ancient tradition of transporting large tree trunks down these rivers from the Pyrenees to Tudela and Zaragoza as rafts.
